Youth character T-shirts
8–14 years · US sizes M (8), L (10/12), XL (14/16)
Youth is the least reliable band in US sizing, and it is not close. Children between eight and fourteen vary enormously in build, the age-based labels stop tracking bodies, and the top of the range overlaps adult sizing without saying so — a youth XL and an adult small are frequently the same chest measurement and a different length.
What to watch for in this band
- Measure a shirt that already fits and compare it to the listing. At this age a chart is close to useless.
- Youth XL is often equivalent to an adult S in the chest but two inches shorter in the body. If length matters, go adult.
- Character taste shifts hard in this band — the properties that sell here are teen-rated ones, not the preschool catalogue.
- Fabric weight starts to matter to the wearer. A thin tee that a six-year-old never notices becomes an objection at twelve.
This is where the catalogue splits. Anime, video games and the teen-rated superhero and horror properties sell into this band; the preschool characters drop away almost entirely.
