The Evil Queen
The Evil Queen is Snow White's vain stepmother, who asks her magic mirror who is the fairest of all and, when the answer is Snow White, tries to have her killed. She comes from the Brothers Grimm, where the stepmother has no name; Disney's 1937 film is the version that gave her a crown, a high black collar, a purple cloak and a cold, beautiful face.

Who is The Evil Queen?
The Evil Queen is Snow White's vain stepmother, who asks her magic mirror who is the fairest of all and, when the answer is Snow White, tries to have her killed. She comes from the Brothers Grimm, where the stepmother has no name; Disney's 1937 film is the version that gave her a crown, a high black collar, a purple cloak and a cold, beautiful face. She is the first feature-length Disney villain. Two animators shaped her: Art Babbitt worked on the Queen, and Norm Ferguson on the old peddler witch she turns herself into to deliver the poisoned apple. Lucille La Verne voiced both, and according to a well-known studio story she made the witch's cackle sound older by taking out her false teeth. The transformation scene, with the Queen drinking a potion in her dungeon, is one of the most frightening moments in early animation. Some Disney materials call her Queen Grimhilde. Gal Gadot played her in the 2025 live-action film. On shirts she appears in two forms — the regal Queen and the hag with the apple — and the mirror and apple work as designs without either face.
