Who is Sans?

Sans is a short, grinning skeleton in a blue hoodie who tells bad puns and, depending on how the player treats the game's monsters, becomes one of its hardest opponents. Toby Fox made Undertale largely by himself, funded through Kickstarter in 2013, and released it in 2015. The game lets players spare every enemy instead of fighting, and Sans is the character who notices what the player has chosen. His boss fight is set to Megalovania, a track Fox had written before the game. Sans appeared as a Mii Fighter costume in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2019. His design is simple enough to draw from memory, which helps explain how widely it spread online.
