Tommy Pickles is a one-year-old in a blue T-shirt and a diaper who leads his friends on adventures that, from an adult's height, are a trip across the living room. Rugrats premiered in August 1991 as one of Nickelodeon's first three Nicktoons, alongside Doug and The Ren & Stimpy Show, and was created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain. The show's device is perspective: the babies misunderstand the adult world completely and confidently. E. G. Daily voices Tommy, who carries a toy screwdriver for escaping his playpen.
