Courage is a small pink dog who is frightened of everything and protects his elderly owners anyway. He lives with Muriel and her grumpy husband Eustace in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas, where monsters, curses and aliens turn up every week.

Who is Courage the Cowardly Dog?
Courage is a small pink dog who is frightened of everything and protects his elderly owners anyway. He lives with Muriel and her grumpy husband Eustace in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas, where monsters, curses and aliens turn up every week. John R. Dilworth created him in the short The Chicken from Outer Space, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1996, and Cartoon Network's series ran from 1999 to 2002. Marty Grabstein voiced Courage, mostly in yelps. The show mixed horror imagery with slapstick, and many adults remember it as the scariest cartoon they watched as children. Eustace, who calls Courage a stupid dog, and the kind Scottish Muriel frame every episode, and the series mixed photographs and computer-generated elements into its hand-drawn world to make its monsters stranger.
