Who is Snake Eyes?

Snake Eyes is a commando who never speaks and never shows his face. He was one of the original figures in Hasbro's 1982 G.I. Joe relaunch, and his all-black design is widely said to have started as a cost saving on paint. Larry Hama, who wrote Marvel's G.I. Joe comic, turned that blank figure into the team's most popular character: a silent ninja with a hidden past, a vow of silence and a rivalry with Storm Shadow. Hama's 1984 issue with no dialogue at all, known as the silent issue, is a well-known experiment in comics storytelling. Ray Park played Snake Eyes in the 2009 and 2013 films, and Henry Golding starred in the 2021 origin film. The masked, visor-covered head is the design every shirt uses.
