Who is Starfire?

Starfire is Koriand'r, an alien princess from the planet Tamaran who can fly and fire bolts of energy called starbolts. Marv Wolfman and George Pérez introduced her in 1980, in the same issue as Raven, as part of their revival of the Teen Titans. Her people absorb sunlight as energy, and on Earth she took the name Kory Anders. In the comics her story involves being sold into slavery by her sister, Blackfire, and escaping, and she has a long relationship with Dick Grayson, the original Robin who became Nightwing. Many Americans know a lighter version: in the 2003 Teen Titans animated series, voiced by Hynden Walch, she is cheerful, literal-minded and unfamiliar with Earth customs, and she returned in the comedy Teen Titans Go! from 2013. Anna Diop played her in the live-action series Titans from 2018. Her long red hair, green eyes, purple outfit and green energy blasts are the elements every design uses, and she is often sold with Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Robin as part of the team. She is also one of DC's most prominent heroines outside the Justice League.
