Who is Ant-Man?

Ant-Man is a superhero who can shrink to the size of an insect and command ants. The original was the scientist Hank Pym, who first appeared in Tales to Astonish #27 in 1962 and took the Ant-Man name later that year in issue #35, created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby. Pym was a founding member of the Avengers. A second Ant-Man, the reformed thief Scott Lang, was introduced by David Michelinie and John Byrne in 1979, and it is Lang whom most people now know, because Paul Rudd played him in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man in 2015, with Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. Edgar Wright spent years developing that film before leaving the project in 2014. Rudd returned in Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023, as well as in the Avengers films, where his size-changing turned out to matter to the plot. The powers come from Pym Particles, which can also make him enormous as Giant-Man. The red-and-silver helmet and the Ant-Man logo are the usual designs, and the tiny-hero jokes work well on children's shirts.
