Who is Hank Hill?

Hank Hill is an assistant manager at Strickland Propane in Arlen, Texas: decent, stubborn, private, and deeply attached to propane. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels created King of the Hill for Fox, where it ran from 1997 to 2010, and Judge voices Hank himself. The show was unusual for adult animation in treating its characters mostly with affection rather than contempt, and much of its humour comes from Hank's discomfort with anything new. His catchphrase about selling propane and propane accessories, and his reaction noises, became a long-running internet meme well after the original run ended. The series returned with new episodes on Hulu in 2025. Hank's shirts lean almost entirely on text: the Strickland Propane logo and his lines.
