Who is Piccolo?
Piccolo is a tall green Namekian in a turban and weighted cape who starts Dragon Ball as Goku's enemy and ends up as the most reliable adult in the series. Akira Toriyama introduced him as the heir of the villain King Piccolo, and he first fights Goku as an adult at a martial-arts tournament. His turn came when he trained Goku's young son Gohan, and the grudging mentor–student bond became one of the franchise's favourite relationships. Toshio Furukawa voices him in Japanese and Christopher Sabat in the English dub. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in 2022 made Piccolo a co-lead. Toriyama died in March 2024.
