Who is Kevin McCallister?

Kevin McCallister is eight years old, accidentally left behind when his family flies to Paris for Christmas, and entirely capable of defending the house against two burglars. John Hughes wrote and produced Home Alone and Chris Columbus directed it in 1990, with Macaulay Culkin in the lead. The film became the highest-grossing live-action comedy of its time, and Culkin's hands-on-cheeks scream, used on the poster, became one of the most copied images of the decade. The film also invented a film of its own: Angels with Filthy Souls, a fake black-and-white gangster movie that Kevin plays to scare off visitors, is the source of the line about keeping the change that now appears on countless shirts. The booby traps — the paint cans, the iron, the tarantula — are the other big design family. A 1992 sequel moved the story to New York. The film passed to Disney with its 2019 purchase of 21st Century Fox.
