Who is Wicket?

Wicket is the Ewok who befriends Princess Leia on the forest moon of Endor in Return of the Jedi, and the one most people picture when they think of Ewoks. The 1983 film's small, furry forest people help the Rebels defeat the Empire's forces with traps and slings. Warwick Davis played Wicket at the age of eleven, in his first screen role. Wicket returned in two television films, Caravan of Courage in 1984 and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor in 1985, and the animated series Ewoks from 1985. His orange hood and spear are the design. The Ewoks were a late change: the final battle was first imagined with Wookiees. Sound designer Ben Burtt built their language from recordings of languages including Tibetan and Kalmyk.
