Plenty of adult-oriented characters are manufactured in children's sizes, and this site keeps them off its kids pages regardless — a parent browsing a page called "kids" is asking about the character, not the garment. This page is the other half of that decision: the characters that filter excludes.

The designs here tend to be graphically stronger than the children's ranges, and for a consistent reason. Adult character apparel leans on marks that work in one or two colours at any size — a mask silhouette, a faction crest, a single typographic glyph — because the buyer is choosing a graphic they will wear in public rather than a picture of a character they like.
