LAIKA
LAIKA is a stop-motion animation studio based near Portland, Oregon, and it is one of very few studios still making feature films one physical frame at a time. Its first feature, Coraline, directed by Henry Selick in 2009, was also the first stop-motion feature shot in stereoscopic 3D.

LAIKA is a stop-motion animation studio based near Portland, Oregon, and it is one of very few studios still making feature films one physical frame at a time. Its first feature, Coraline, directed by Henry Selick in 2009, was also the first stop-motion feature shot in stereoscopic 3D. The studio has since combined handmade puppets with 3D-printed replacement faces, which let its characters show far more expressions than traditional stop-motion allowed. Its films — Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings and Missing Link — have all been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Every LAIKA feature has been nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
